The following is the latest study as it appears in the bioRxiv archive of Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory describing the effects of Bravo yogurt consumption associated with intermittent fasting (intermittent fasting is a means to achieve nutritional ketosis).
This study describes the results observed by Dr. Jerry Blythe, MD, a long-time cancer survivor and marathon runner, who embarked in a three-month experience of intermittent fasting and Bravo consumption.
The results observed by Dr. Blythe not only are consistent with those reported by other studies, but present additional, exciting observations that open novel perspectives for the use of the combination [intermittent fasting/Bravo].
In our paper, we demonstrate that Bravo yogurt leads to elimination through the urine of a number of chemical toxicants stored in fat. In other words, Bravo yogurt detoxifies the body of the harmful chemicals that may negatively affect the immune system, the endocrine system and the brain.
In this particular case, elimination through the urine of a number of chemicals that are known endocrine disruptors led to significant improvement of thyroid function as demonstrated by the decrease of TSH.
This mechanism bears important consequences: thus, accumulation of endocrine disruptors (chemical toxicants) leads to impaired thyroid function that in turn leads to reduced basal metabolism, reduced energy, retention of liquids and weight gain.
When the endocrine disruptors are eliminated through urine thanks to Bravo, thyroid function and metabolism normalize, energy levels increase and weight loss can be maintained.
As it is described in our paper, the detoxifying effect of Bravo is due to three mechanisms that, in turn, are due to the Bravo proprietary microbial formulation:
1. Instantaneous binding and elimination of toxicants.
2. Improved renal function with increased elimination of toxicants.
3. Increased production of anti-oxidant molecules and enzymes.
In addition, Dr. Blythe describes a significant improvement of immune system function as demonstrated by decrease of Nagalase. These data are consistent with the known immune-modulatory properties of Bravo and with the removal of chemical toxicants that are known to affect the immune system.

"This week we hear from our friend Stephany about treating her son, Jovan, with a ketogenic diet to help him adapt and overcome his own challenges and obstacles growing up as a non-verbal autistic child. His progress is incredible, and it’s absolutely thrilling to witness."
Inner Fire Podcast explores information about the journey towards health, fitness, and peace of mind.
Our organic garden-fresh ingredients for our own ketogenic pizza came from our own backyard. We used organic tomatoes and basil and stewed them over low heat for about 20 minutes to bring out the flavors. We sauteed organic garlic cloves and basil in olive oil. Smells delicious! We steamed cauliflower with garlic in water with about a tablespoon of olive oil. Jovan loved the ketogenic organic meat and greens with homemade balsamic vinaigrette dressing. So tasty!
When I was researching autism and deficiecies, one of the most important items that popped up was magnesium. Most people have very low levels of magnesium, especially those who suffer from an illness.
A magnesium deficiency can cause the body to lose potassium which our bodies cannot afford. Within the cell wall is a sodium pump to provide a high internal potassium and a low internal sodium. Magnesium and potassium inside the cell assist oxidation, and sodium and calcium outside the cell wall help transmit the energy produced. The healthy cell wall favors intake of nutrients and elimination of waste products.
Magnesium protects cells from aluminum, mercury, lead, cadmium, beryllium and nickel, which explains why re-mineralization is so essential for heavy metal detoxification and chelation. Magnesium protects the cell against oxyradical damage and assists in the absorption and metabolism of B vitamins, vitamin C and E, which are anti-oxidants important in cell protection. Recent evidence suggests that vitamin E enhances glutathione levels and may play a protective role in magnesium deficiency-induced cardiac lesions.
Magnesium in general is essential for the survival of our cells but takes on further importance in the age of toxicity where our bodies are being bombarded on a daily basis with heavy metals. Magnesium protects the brain from toxic effects of chemicals. It is highly likely that low total body magnesium contributes to heavy metal toxicity in children and is a strong participant in the etiology of learning disorders.
Without sufficient magnesium, the body accumulates toxins and acid residues, degenerates rapidly, and ages prematurely. Recent research has pointed to low glutathione levels being responsible for children’s vulnerability to mercury poisoning from vaccines. It seems more than reasonable to assume that low levels of magnesium would also render a child vulnerable.
We are supposed to get our magnesium from our daily food intake, but unfortunately most people have diets lacking in nutrients. This is list of veggies rich in magnesium:
Consuming most of this raw is best for optimal nutrition intake. I added some of this to our family's diet and have seen great benefits from it. Magnesium oils can also be purchased and added as lotion or even in a warm bath with a little lavender.
It's easy to prepare Ketogenic foods. Take a look at these delicious meals we prepare for Jovan. The entire family enjoys these delicious dinners and they are healthy for all of us!
These are some products we purchase from Amazon to test ketone levels:
Below is a helpful video for the Precision Xtra Ketone Glucose Test.
My family consumes these foods daily from the ketogenic diet:
Some ketogenic diet foods that are ideal for fats and oils (organic and grass-fed sources are preferred):
Dairy is a great way to add extra fats into meals by creating sauces or fatty side dishes like creamed spinach, but always remember that it does have protein in it as well. You should always take this into account when pairing dairy with protein-heavy dishes.
This is part of Jovan's healing Phase I and Phase II protocol by Dr. Heinz Reinwald called "The Reinwald Protocol: A Revolutionary Concept of a Ketogenic Diet."
YOU CHANGE FIRST
It starts with you changing first. Who would have thought that I would change first? Well, for your kids, you will do anything. I was, by far, the worst eater in the world. Yes, I ate at McDonald's and I ate fast food. I had no conscience about food. I thought I ate healthy and I had no palate. Well, boy, was I wrong! It took my son to get sick for me to fix myself.
I was always tired, sleepy and moody. I had painful menstruation and I had to take six ibuprofen daily for a week. I had no idea what I was doing to my body. I never ate veggies or fruit. I loved potato chips and french fries.
But why was I always sick? Because my immune syatem was shot. I was sick almost every two months. I once got sick for almost two weeks straight and was exhausted in bed.
In 2011 I started reading about juicing. Katheryn Reed was writing about MSG and how she cured her daughter's autism. She made videos about juicing. I read the labels on everything I purchased. Katheryn Reed said, "If you don’t understand the label that means it's bad for you, and anything that says NATURAL FLAVORS means you are consuming MSG." I found her info interesting since I had heard diet worked but didn’t have anybody that could confirm that it worked. I repeatedly heard that changing the diet wasn't proven and doesn't work.
I'm a very drastic and extreme person. So the night I read up on MSG, it dawned on me that if I ate wrong how could I possibly help my son? I was the one that brought sweets to my kids and thought I was rewarding them. Well I was wrong.
I started juicing in 2011 and was maybe at one juice per day. As I started educating myself, I came across the “Just Juice” website that said the person that started the recipes cured herself from cancer, and that a detox was necessary. So in 2015 I did a juice cleanse. By that time, I was already fermenting my own foods and making my own milk keifers, kambucha and water keiffers. I did the "21 in 21 Just Juice" detox and I lost 30 pounds. I became a blended juice junkie. To this day I drink four juices a day. I make them daily and take them to work.
I also prepare my cucumber water with mint and ginger and consume at least one gallon each day. I changed my palate. Our family went organic and GMO-free in 2012. Since then I started choosing where we ate and mostly ate at home. I found research that confirmed it is better to make food at home than to buy pre-made food. To this day I have maintained my weight without even trying. I no longer have heavy periods or menstrual cramps since I made those changes. I have not had any Tylenol or ibuprofen in three years. I'm never tired and I feel well all the time. I have energy to ferment and make our food and I even started growing our garden. We even bought our own chickens and goats! I have my whole family on this healthier lifestyle now! This change would have never happened if it weren’t for Jovan. We changed, and those changes have made Jovan's transition smoother.
Hello my name is Stephany and I want to share my story. I am a mother of an autistic child. My son is Jovan, and this is his journey.
